Looking for a creamy, delicious smoothie? You’ll love this chia seed berry smoothie with yogurt! It’s a healthy breakfast or snack that only takes about 5 minutes to whip up. Plus, you can easily use frozen fruit instead of fresh fruit, so you can enjoy this smoothie recipe any time of year.
The healthy fat from chia seeds and protein from the Greek yogurt make this smoothie more filling than a typical smoothie, and the berries make it super flavorful and refreshing.

Chia Seed Fruit Smoothie
I love smoothies any time of year – whether it’s hot or cold. They’re so easy to make and super versatile since you can put basically any fruit – and even many vegetables – into a smoothie and it’ll taste amazing.
This combo in particular is perfect for summer, with summer berries being the star of the show, but don’t worry – it’s great year-round when made with frozen berries, too.
If you often find yourself frustrated by smoothies that leave you hungry an hour later, this one will be a winner for you thanks to being chock full of nutritious ingredients. The Greek yogurt makes it extra creamy and adds a boost of protein, and the chia seeds add texture and even more staying power from healthy fat. This smoothie really is quite the stunner!

Recipe Ingredients
To make this berry yogurt smoothie, you’ll need:
- strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- cherries (fresh or frozen – just make sure they are pitted!)
- Greek yogurt
- chia seeds (Check out these other delicious chia seed breakfast and snack recipes, too)
- milk (dairy milk or non-dairy milk like almond or soy milk both work)
A note about the berries: if you use frozen berries, you don’t need to add ice to the smoothie! And feel free to use any berries you have on hand – it can be all one kind or a mix.
And the only equipment you need to make this is a blender.

How to Make a Yogurt Berry Smoothie with Chia Seeds
All you have to do is combine all the ingredients into a blender and whirl away! Feel free to add more milk (or a handful of ice) depending on the smoothie consistency you prefer.

Then, pour into a glass (or bowl), add any toppings you desire (see below for ideas), and enjoy!

If you don’t love the texture of chia seeds in smoothies, stir the chia seeds and the milk together in a separate container and let sit for 15 minutes. (This allows the chia seeds to absorb some of the liquid from the milk and soften.) Then, just blend the mixture with the rest of the smoothie ingredients!
Alternatively, you can swap out the chia seeds for the same amount of ground flaxseed, instead.
You can also toss in a handful of baby spinach or de-stemmed kale if you want some extra veggie power in the mix. You won’t be able to taste it, I promise.

Smoothie Topping Ideas
Add some toppings to make this smoothie into a delicious smoothie bowl! Here are some ideas:
- Granola
- Nut butter (use natural peanut butter for that drippy texture that’s easy to drizzle)
- Sliced bananas
- Chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc.) for a crunchy texture and healthy fat
- Seeds (such as hemp seeds)
- More sliced fruit
- Shredded coconut
