Suns to Add Thaddeus Young After Nets Waive Veteran Forward, per Report


In an effort to beef up their depth for a potential playoff run, the Phoenix Suns are reportedly turning to one of the NBA’s longest-tenured journeymen.

The Suns are signing forward Thaddeus Young after he was waived by the Brooklyn Nets, according to a report Tuesday from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Toronto Raptors traded Young, 35, to the Nets on Thursday along with guard Dennis Schröder.

Young is in his 17th season in the NBA. In his lengthy career, he has suited up for the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota TimberwolvesIndiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs as well as the Nets and Raptors.

Highlights of the Georgia Tech product’s journey include an All-Rookie selection with the 76ers in 2008, down-ballot votes for Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player on multiple occasions, the 37th-most steals in NBA history, and a memorable Fox Sports Indiana graphic appearance in 2018. 

Phoenix is currently 31–22, sixth in the Western Conference and six games behind the first-place Timberwolves.
