Washington Commanders wideout Curtis Samuel and New York Giants defensive back Cor’dale Flott were ejected on Sunday’s NFC East clash.
The two were involved in a mass brawl between both franchises after a Sam Howell rushing touchdown.
After Howell took a hefty hit, several Washington players were furious with the nature of the challenge.
A fracas quickly broke out that snowballed out of control as players from both sides piled in.
Robert Nnanna Okereke and Xavier McKinney had smashed Howell despite him already crossing the line.
In an attempt to get to McKinney to defend his teammate, Commanders wide receiver Samuel crashed into Flott to get him out of the way.
The two continued to fight one another while Howell was dazed on the deck.
It led to both Samuel and Flott being ejected from the pitch, though there were plenty of flashpoints in a fracas where several players were seen fighting.
Washington’s Charles Leno Jr was another guilty of foul play and might have escaped an ejection after appearing to headbutt McKinney with his helmet on.
While Okereke and McKinney could have been banished for their part after crushing Howell.
Fans were not happy with the referee’s result after both sides were left without a player each.
One supporter said: “I need someone to explain how Cutis Samuel was the only player ejected here.”
And another wrote: “Should’ve never happened if the refs blew whistle when play should’ve ended.”
A third put: “The most impactful thing Samuel has done all season….”
The Giants were 14-9 up at the time but went on to extend a 21-12 lead.
