Danny Murphy fears Jurgen Klopp’s impending Liverpool exit could spark a Liverpool exodus this summer, led by Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
Klopp’s bombshell announcement last Friday has created uncertainty as to what the future looks like at Anfield without the German at the helm.

Liverpool skipper Van Dijk hinted that his future may lie away from the Merseyside club with just 18 months remaining on his existing deal.
The same can be said of talismanic forward Salah whose contract also runs until 2025. The Egyptian was subject of a bid from the Saudi Pro League last summer but another approach this year could yield a different outcome.
Ex-Reds midfielder Murphy believes there is likely to be uncertainty among players closest to the outgoing German.
“I think it unsettles players who have a good relationship with him [Klopp] because if you’re a Mo Salah or a Virgil van DIjk you think ‘how’s it going to affect me?’ Does he see me like Klopp sees me?,” Murphy told talkSPORT.
“Virgil and Salah are at a certain age. They’ve got 18 months left [on their contracts]. There is a situation there where they could use it as a way out to try something new.”
Van Dijk was recently asked whether he could see himself as part of the post-Klopp era at Anfield but maintained a neutral stance, sparking speculation that his time at the club could also be coming to a close.
“That’s a big question. I don’t know,” said Van Dijk. “Hopefully we will have the success we all dream of and by then probably there will be more clarification about what the club wants for the future and then we will see.”
Murphy believes Van Dijk’s non-committal remarks were ill-timed particularly in the aftermath of Klopp’s announcement.
“In some ways, I actually admire his honesty because it’s a bit too honest. The timing isn’t very good, I’d have kept schtum for a while and just got on with the job.
“You’ve had the bombshell of Klopp and now what Van Dijk’s saying is that depending on what the club does will depend on what I do.

“He’s not saying I’m going and he’s not saying I’m staying here no matter what.”
