Unwilling to see them with their new coaching partner, Daniele De Rossi, the former treble-winning Inter Milan coach chopped his follower count down to 28.

Likely the best value coaching follow on the photo-sharing app, Mourinho kept up his emotional farewell video to the Roma fans, which has collected over 17million views

Surviving the cut on Mourinho’s following list are a number of his former assistants, including Aitor Karanka, who worked under him at Real Madrid before going solo with English sides Middlesbrough, whom he took up to the Premier League, as well as Nottingham Forest and Birmingham in the Championship.

The former Chelsea manager also keeps an eye on other sports – Formula 1 and Tennis – while the most famous person he’s following is world-renowned natural history broadcaster, David Attenborough.

However, his appearance back in Spain was quickly explained by the fact he has an apartment there.

Elsewhere on the job front, Mourinho is believed to have had an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab, which he looks likely to turn down.
