Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to be appointed as Liverpool’s new manager, talkSPORT understands.
The Italian has fuelled speculation linking him with Anfield by refusing to commit his future to the Seagulls.
However, he is not thought to be among the standout contenders to replace Jurgen Klopp at this stage.
Sporting Lisbon boss Rubin Amorim is one name in the frame while Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi is another potential outsider.
The former recently revealed he felt ‘upset’ as speculation around a move to Anfield continues to mount.
Inzaghi has earned rave reviews at the San Siro having taken Inter to the Champions League final last season.
And he looks set to guide the Italian outfit to Serie A glory with the club 14 points clear at the top of the table.
The Liverpool hierarchy are determined not to rush the process of appointing Klopp’s successor, which is largely being data-led.
Whilst De Zerbi doesn’t appear to be in the running to replace Klopp, he is on Bayern Munich’s list of potential targets.
Ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is leaving the club at the end of the season, and like Liverpool, they too have suffered the blow of target Xabi Alonso confirming he’s staying with Bayer Leverkusen.
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has also been tipped to be a ‘dark horse’ for the soon-to-be vacant dugout at Anfield, with his side pushing for back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.
The Reds currently sit top of the league, but regardless of where they finish this season, Klopp’s successor will have enormous boots to fill.
Klopp has been at the helm for nine years, winning Liverpool’s first league title in 30 years in 2020, as well as the Champions League in 2019 amongst other honours.
Liverpool face Sheffield United live and exclusive on talkSPORT on Thursday night as they look to secure a dream ending for Klopp’s time at Anfield.
