Portsmouth and Derby’s League One title clash was unexpectedly halted due to a fox running onto the pitch.

Pompey sit top of the table and the Rams are behind in second, with the match one of the biggest all season.

However, an enticing battle at Fratton Park was paused during the first half when a small fox made an unlikely appearance.

Derby were in possession at the time but the small mammal ran along the face of the goal-line in front of the Fratton End.

It’s appearance seemed to be quick one, with play finally resuming in what was windy and wet conditions on the south coast.

Joe Ward gave Derby the lead on the break in the 23rd minute but Abu Kamara hit back moments later to make it 1-1.

The visitors regained the lead on the approach to half time though, with Ward finding the net with an excellent low strike.
