Kylian Mbappe predicted it, and Marseille delivered with a shower of boos for the France captain.

The Paris Saint-Germain megastar led out France for their friendly against Chile, but he’d already received a frosty reception in the warm up.

With the game taking place at the Stade Velodrome, the home of Marseille, those in attendance made sure to let their feelings known to Mbappe.

When the 25-year-old appeared on-screen for the warm-up, boos, jeers and whistles rained down from those in attendance.

Mbappe had already predicted as much, with PSG taking on OM in Le Classique, their next match, on Sunday.

Asked pre-match if he’d like the fans to support him, he said: “I’m not going to ask that for that. I’m just going to concentrate on playing.

“And no matter how I’m received, I’m going to do my best to get a good reaction, and, to be honest, I would understand if I am whistled.

“There is a Classique on Sunday and I am a PSG player so if I am whistled, that’s life. I won’t take it personally and it won’t change the way I play.

“But if I don’t get whistled, I’ll be pleasantly surprised. So sometimes you can have good surprises.”

Mbappe went on to flatter the Velodrome, saying: “Most of my career I came here as a rival so of course I didn’t have the opportunity to admire the stadium properly.

“Now as I am here as a player of the France team, I’m sure that it’s going to be cool to play here.

“There’s a good atmosphere, it’s a big stadium. There you go, it’s one of the stadiums in France where there’s the most atmosphere. It’s one of the two or three stadiums in France that are the best.”

Once the match got underway, fans had plenty more to boo with France going 1-0 down just six minutes into the game.

However, quickfire goals from Youssouf Fofana and Randal Kolo Muani turned things around, with Les Bleus desperate to avoid another defeat after they were outplayed by Germany in a 2-0 loss last weekend.
