Cris Cyborg knocked out Kelsey Wickstrum in strong fashion on Friday night in California as the MMA legend continues her progression in boxing.
The 38-year-old Grand Slam champion of UFC, Bellator, Strikeforce and Invicta FC is now 2-0 as a pro boxer, but fans were somewhat distracted as her KO punch landed.
Cyborg nailed Wickstrum with a huge overhand right which smashed her on the temple and floored her, leaving her unable to make it back to her feet.
The commentators on the broadcast both let out a loud scream of excitement, which did not meet universal approval.
“Who is the TV commentator screaming?” one fan asked, “Embarrassing call.”
A second fan said: “Dude went from stepping on a Lego to breaking his leg in half. What kind of reaction is this from the commentator?”
While a third commented: “Commentator was like, ‘This is going to be my Down Goes Frazier,’ and then started screaming.”
And a fourth fan added: “I’ve always fancied trying my hand at fight commentary, but worried I might not cut the mustard.
“After hearing this call, maybe I shouldn’t be quite so concerned.”
Fans were also divided by the knockout itself.
One wrote: “That was the most telegraphed overhand right in the history of combat sports.”
And a second put: “That didn’t even connect fully.”
While a third fan said: “Powerful but that punch was insanely slow.”
However one fan described the punch as a: “Brain-rattling temple shot.”
A second fan commented: “She should stick to boxing cause she can be a problem.”
A third wrote: “THIS WOMAN HAS CEMENT FOR HANDS THAT’S CRAZY.”
And a fourth added: “THAT’S RIGHT!!! LET’S GO!!!! CONGRATS @CrisCyborg !!! SUCH A BEAST!!!”
