Tyreek Hill wanted to fight Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey flattened Hill during an NFL flag football game.
Now, the former warring opponents are Miami teammates as the Dolphins prepare for a huge international game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Frankfurt, Germany.
Throw in the fact that Hill used to star for the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback, and the once intense Hill-Ramsey rivalry becomes even more interesting.
“I really want some of Jalen Ramsey, though, for real,” Hill previously said. “If we just being completely honest right here. I just wanna go at the bully.”
After Ramsey bounced from the former Super Bowl-winning Los Angeles Rams to the Dolphins in March, the six-time Pro Bowler was asked about Hill’s strong words.
“You know what’s crazy? Our lockers are right next to each other,” Ramsey said on BS with Jake Paul. “It was on purpose. But it wasn’t for that reason. It was on purpose because the best players got to be, like, in a little certain area.”
Ramsey joked if there was money available, he would still fight Hill.
“We ain’t got no beef or nothing,” Ramsey said.
Hill is one of the best receivers in the sport and has made seven Pro Bowls.
Ramsey is a former No. 5 overall pick who has starred for Jacksonville, the Rams and now Miami.
When Ramsey made his 2023 debut last week, returning from a knee injury, he announced the moment with a big interception.
“Before the surgery I said I was going to be back before December,” Ramsey said. “December was never going to happen. That wasn’t even in nobody’s mind around me. We don’t work like that. We beat anything that people say.”
Meanwhile, Hill has already has 1,014 receiving yards and eight touchdowns this season.
Both are outspoken and unafraid to challenge norms.
When Ramsey was asked who the best cornerback in the NFL is, the Dolphin responded with an easy answer.
“Outside of myself, right?” Ramsey said with a straight face.
The biggest on-field highlight between Hill and Ramsey occurred during the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl.
As Davante Adams – still a happy Raider back then – approached the end zone for a touchdown, the wide receiver lateralled the ball to a running Hill.
As the Dolphins star inched toward a score, Ramsey knocked him over in an exhibition game that wasn’t supposed to feature hard contact.
“Ramsey had no idea that Tyreek was there or that he was getting the ball,” an announcer said.
There used to be a serious back-and-forth between Ramsey and Hill when they played for different teams.
When Ramsey was a young Jaguar, he openly challenged the Chief.
“He’s (Hill) good for what he does for their team,” Ramsey said in 2018. “He made All-Pro as a return specialist — let’s get that right, as a return specialist — his rookie year. He went to two Pro Bowls as a return specialist. Return specialist.
“In two years, I made All-Pro in my position as a corner — went to the Pro Bowl as a corner. So it’s not a wide receiver versus corner matchup.”
It’s not a highly personal 1-on-1 matchup, anymore.
Hill and Ramsey are both Dolphins, trying to take down the Chiefs in Germany.
They’re now talented Miami teammates, after Hill wanted to box Ramsey, and Ramsey knocked over Hill in flag football.
