Manchester United fans watched on in frustration as Anthony Elanga starred for Nottingham Forest.
The winger grabbed a goal in Forest’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham on Sunday as he continued his positive start to the season.
He now has two goals and three assists in 12 total appearances for the club this season.
The 21-year-old’s goal means he has now scored more than United’s entire front line in the Premier League this season.
Marcus Rashford has one goal, while Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial are yet to score.
Writing on X, one fan wrote: “Did the club make a mistake?”
Another said: “If you ever feel stupid remember Manchester United sacked Elanga and kept Rashford.”
A third added: “Serious question, is Elanga better than Antony?”
Man United sold Elanga to Forest in July for £15million with his first goal coming in the 1-0 away win against Chelsea in September.
That second came against West Ham on Sunday to put them 2-1 up, where he took off his shirt and revealed a ridiculously ripped physique.
However, Jarrod Bowen hit back almost immediately before Thomas Soucek completed the comeback for the Hammers.
The result means Forest are 15th in the Premier League table with 13 points, seven clear of the relegation zone going into the international break.
Meanwhile, David Moyes’ side are ninth but will drop down a position should Chelsea beat Manchester City on Sunday.
