Darts sensation Luke Littler has revealed that David Beckham is one of the many celebrities to get in touch with him.

The 16-year-old is vying to become a world champion at the PDC World Championship on Wednesday night against Luke Humphries, live on talkSPORT, which attracted the stars, including Becks’ son Romeo and heavyweight boxer Derek Chisora.

Dartsmania has swept the nation, with everyone keen to see if Littler can win the £500k prize.

His semi-final thrashing of former world champion Rob Cross broke viewerships records on Sky Sports and the final is set to obliterate those figures as well.

Speaking to Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent on talkSPORT Drive ahead of the biggest night of his life, Manchester United fan Littler opened up about the extra attention he has received.

And that has included private messages from Beckham.

“It has been crazy. My Twitter/X followers have shot up, my Instagram followers have shot out the window. I’ve even had messages off David Beckham, Romeo [Beckham], Luke Shaw…”

A gobsmacked Goldstein intervened and said: “You got a message from Becks? Was it a DM? What did it say?”

Littler replied: “I think it said: ‘Well done, once a Red always a Red’.

“Then Romeo is there [at the Alexandra Palace] tonight and he said good luck.”

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison, who loves the darts and pretends to throw arrows in his goal celebrations, was seen chatting to Romeo Beckham in the VIP section before the action began.

For many players, the Ally Pally crowd can be quite a daunting experience with a room full of people cheering, singing and drinking – it is not a place for the faint-hearted on stage.

But Littler has been inspired by the tunes and the noise, lifting his spirits and giving him some encouragement.

“You walk through the backdoor, behind the curtain and Sky go on air then. I always get goosebumps but as soon as I get on stage, the nerves just go.”

The teenager added: “Obviously, they used to sing ‘there’s only one Phil Taylor‘ years and years ago. Now it’s ‘there’s only one Luke Littler‘.

“So, I’ve taken that off you, Phil!”

Listen to the final live on talkSPORT for free from 7pm tonight!
